Arabic has a beauty all its own in the form and shape of the letters and words. The script appears to have been woven in paint or ink instead of written. It has a grandeur that does not exist in western scripts. Inspired by this idea that the very fiber and shapes of the characters are somehow intertwined this peice explores this possibility.
Using 3D printing as a means of exploring the fluid nature of this exquisite language allows me to create the complex woven forms of the Arabic Script.
Printed in Mat Bronzed - Silver Steel, the Arabic Calligraphy of this sculpture says “Allahu Akbar.” Meaning God is the Greatest.
